Deadpool 2 Not Only Matches But Exceeds Original!

If there is one character that has quickly risen to the top of the most beloved Marvel characters of all time, it is Deadpool. Fans rejoiced when Deadpool came out with a film in 2016! It had action, jokes, and more, but overall kept everything pretty straight forward. When the movie received overwhelming amounts of love by die hard fans and the general public alike, a sequel was on its way without a doubt!

Sure enough Deadpool 2 released in May of 2018 and was somehow even better than the original film by leaps and bounds. The film maker made the decision to take the story line down paths the first didn’t even think to venture. Without any previous knowledge of the character or franchise, we know that Deadpool is a man of action as guns, bullets, and jokes. However, in Deadpool 2 they focused on so much more than just pure violence and crude humor, and that change of pace added so much to the film.

The plot of Deadpool 2 hones in on dealing with a tragic event that leaves Wade Wilson thinking about his life as a whole. When convinced to work with the X-Men, he comes across a young and troubled mutant by the name of Russell and decides to deal with an issue in a less than X-Men sort of way. For his aggressive actions, he is placed in prison along with other mutants. All the while a time traveling mutant by the name of Cable comes to the present from a dystopian future to kill a particular mutant. Deadpool must decide to either make an extra effort in order to make a real positive change or to just walk away and let pieces lie where they may.

We see plenty of old faces from the first film including Vanessa played by Morena Baccarin, Negasonic Teenage Warhead played by Brianna Hildebrand, Weasel played by T.J. Miller, and more! We also get to see fresh faces like Cable played by Josh Brolin, Domino played by Zazie Beetz, and Yukio played by Shioli Kutsuna! There were also so many celebrity cameos that it became a game to try and spot every single one.

Out of all of the characters in this film, I loved Peter above all else!

Peter is a regular man off the street that thought it’d be a great idea to help Deadpool out with his goals. He is the best thing Marvel has ever created and needs his own film.

On  a serious note, Deadpool 2 tried their hand at adding in more serious topics of bullying, abuse, suicide and more. They absolutely did not have to go down these roads and could still have made a grip of money. Instead, they chose to add in various moral conflicts and taking time to dwell on such heavy topics while still giving viewers a healthy amount of the bullet spraying, fourth wall breaking Deadpool we all know and love.

This is one of the best Marvel films I have seen in a long time because it was so refreshing in almost every single way. If you enjoy comedy, action, drama, and want that unique experience Deadpool 2 is the film for you!
