World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2 Is Bringing Raids, Mythic+, Delves, and a Whole Lot of Snakes

World of Warcraft: Midnight is about to enter its second season, and Blizzard isn’t simply swapping out a few dungeons and increasing the item level.

Midnight Season 2 officially begins August 18, 2026, one week after the Curse of Ula’tek content update arrives on August 11. The update continues the expansion’s campaign while introducing the mysterious Coiled Isle, a massive new raid, another dungeon, new Delves, additional Prey hunts, a fresh Mythic+ rotation, a new PvP season, and several changes to outdoor content.

In other words, Azeroth is about to get considerably more venomous.

Here are the biggest changes coming to World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2.

The Curse of Ula’tek Continues Midnight’s Story

Season 2 revolves around the Curse of Ula’tek, continuing the larger story established during the opening months of Midnight.

Players will venture to the Coiled Isle, a new outdoor zone connected to the growing threat of Ula’tek.

The zone isn’t simply serving as a staging ground for the raid, either. Blizzard is filling the Coiled Isle with new activities, including:

  • Vaults of Atal’Utek
  • Public events
  • Curse Surges
  • Cursed Fishing
  • New Prey hunts
  • New world-boss encounters
  • Additional story content

It appears Blizzard is continuing the modern WoW philosophy of giving players several different paths through endgame content instead of funneling everyone toward raids or Mythic+.

Whether you enjoy competitive content, exploration, Delves, world events, collecting, or simply experiencing the story, the Coiled Isle should have something waiting for you.

A New Eight-Boss Raid: The Venomous Abyss

The centerpiece of Season 2 is undoubtedly The Venomous Abyss.

This new raid features eight bosses and sends players into the heart of Ula’tek’s domain.

Ula’tek has been unleashed following the actions of Zul’jan, bringing an ancient creature associated with hatred, corruption, and venom back into the world. Naturally, our solution is to gather somewhere between 10 and 30 heavily armed adventurers and walk directly into its lair.

Some traditions never change.

The Venomous Abyss opens alongside Season 2 on August 18, ultimately culminating in a confrontation with Ula’tek herself.

For raiders, this means an entirely new progression race as guilds pursue the traditional seasonal milestones such as Ahead of the Curve and Cutting Edge.

More importantly, an eight-boss raid is a substantial amount of content for a mid-expansion season and should give progression guilds plenty to sink their teeth—or fangs—into.

Mythic+ Gets a Completely New Dungeon Rotation

Season 2 also means one of the most important resets for endgame players: a new Mythic+ dungeon pool.

Eight dungeons will make up the Season 2 rotation:

Midnight Dungeons

Altar of Fangs
Murder Row
Den of Nalorakk
The Blinding Vale
Voidscar Arena

Returning Dungeons

King’s Rest
Ruby Life Pools
Temple of Sethraliss

Yes.

Ruby Life Pools is back.

Somewhere, a healer just felt a disturbance in the Force.

The mixture follows Blizzard’s recent Mythic+ philosophy of combining current expansion dungeons with older instances. This keeps the seasonal environment from becoming too repetitive while allowing the developers to revisit encounters from previous expansions.

King’s Rest returns from Battle for Azeroth, Temple of Sethraliss also returns from Battle for Azeroth, and Ruby Life Pools comes roaring back from Dragonflight.

For players who enjoy pushing keys, this means relearning old routes, discovering new strategies, adjusting compositions, and inevitably arguing about which dungeon deserves to be placed at the bottom of the tier list.

Altar of Fangs Is a Brand-New Dungeon

Season 2 adds Altar of Fangs, a new three-boss dungeon.

Interestingly, players won’t have to wait until the season begins to experience it.

Altar of Fangs becomes available up through Heroic difficulty when the Curse of Ula’tek update launches on August 11. When Season 2 begins one week later, the dungeon joins the Mythic+ rotation.

That gives players an opportunity to explore the instance and familiarize themselves with its encounters before Mythic+ timers start ticking.

Given the snake-and-venom theme surrounding the Coiled Isle, expect Altar of Fangs to lean heavily into the atmosphere of the season.

Delves Are Expanding Again

One of the biggest successes of WoW’s modern endgame design has been the continued expansion of Delves, and Blizzard isn’t leaving them behind in Season 2.

The Curse of Ula’tek update introduces three new Delves:

The Ring of Glory

Gnarldor Isle

Venomfall Deeps

Venomfall Deeps serves as the new Nemesis Delve, providing another major challenge for players who enjoy pushing difficult small-group or solo content.

Existing Midnight Delves are also getting some additional variety through new snake and venom-themed variants.

When Season 2 officially begins, Bountiful Delves become available alongside their associated keys, while players will once again be able to push into the higher tiers beyond Tier 7.

This is particularly important for players who don’t raid or regularly participate in Mythic+.

WoW increasingly allows players to maintain meaningful character progression without committing to traditional organized group content, and Season 2 appears determined to continue that trend.

World Bosses Are Becoming More Structured

Another interesting experiment arrives with Lairs.

Rather than simply waiting for a giant world boss to appear somewhere while dozens of players descend upon it, Season 2’s outdoor bosses will be encountered through dedicated locations.

Players can gather at these locations, select a difficulty, use a summoning stone, and assemble a group before challenging the boss.

Normal, Heroic, and Mythic versions of these encounters are planned.

It effectively takes the concept of a world boss and gives it some of the structure traditionally associated with instanced encounters.

For organized groups, particularly guilds, this could make world bosses significantly more interesting than the traditional weekly routine of joining a raid group and obliterating something in thirty seconds.

Prey Is Getting New Targets

The Prey system is also expanding.

Season 2 introduces new targets, new affixes, and additional hunts located throughout the Coiled Isle.

Prey was designed around the fantasy of actively hunting dangerous targets rather than simply stumbling across another rare spawn, and Blizzard appears interested in developing the system further instead of leaving it as an expansion-launch feature.

New affixes could be particularly interesting because they allow familiar hunts to change mechanically rather than simply increasing enemy health and damage.

It should give open-world players another avenue for repeatable seasonal progression.

PvP Season 2 Begins

Naturally, August 18 also marks the beginning of Midnight PvP Season 2.

Rated PvP effectively resets as players begin another climb through Arenas, Solo Shuffle, rated battlegrounds, and the rest of WoW’s competitive PvP ecosystem.

A new collection of seasonal achievements and rewards will be available, including the traditional high-end rewards for players willing to climb the ladder.

Among them is Venomous Combatant, tied to finishing Season 2 among the highest-rated battleground competitors.

For PvP players, the seasonal transition also means something potentially even more important than new rewards:

A new meta.

Class tuning, gear progression, tier bonuses, and balance changes can dramatically alter which specializations dominate competitive play, meaning Season 2 should provide another shakeup for Arena and Battleground compositions.

New Tier Sets Mean Another Meta Shakeup

Of course, a new raid tier means new gear.

And new gear means new class set bonuses.

Tier bonuses remain one of the biggest variables determining how a specialization feels during a season. A powerful bonus can completely change ability priorities, cooldown timings, talent choices, and rotations.

That means Season 2 won’t simply be about acquiring higher item-level versions of Season 1 equipment.

Players will be chasing entirely new combinations of bonuses and determining how those effects interact with their builds.

Expect the first few weeks of the season to be filled with theorycrafting, simulations, balance discussions, emergency hotfixes, and endless arguments over which specialization is secretly broken.

In other words:

Business as usual.

The Great Gear Chase Begins Again

Like every new WoW season, Season 2 represents a major progression reset.

Raiders will begin climbing through the Venomous Abyss.

Mythic+ players will start rebuilding their Mythic+ ratings.

PvP players will begin another push up the competitive ladder.

Delve players will work their way into increasingly dangerous tiers.

And everyone will begin replacing the equipment they spent months acquiring during Season 1.

For some players, that treadmill can be frustrating.

For others, it is exactly what makes a new WoW season exciting.

Suddenly every dungeon matters again.

Every Great Vault has possibilities.

Every raid boss might drop an upgrade.

And that character you’ve ignored for three months suddenly starts looking like a pretty tempting alt.

Season 2 Feels Like More Than a Seasonal Reset

Perhaps the most encouraging thing about Midnight Season 2 is just how much content surrounds it.

This isn’t simply:

New raid.

New Mythic+ rotation.

Higher item levels.

Repeat.

Instead, Blizzard is pairing the traditional seasonal reset with an entirely new outdoor zone, campaign chapters, world activities, Delves, a dungeon, Prey hunts, structured world bosses, PvP progression, and the Venomous Abyss raid.

That creates an endgame where players can decide how they want to engage with Azeroth.

Want to push Mythic+?

There are eight dungeons waiting.

Want difficult solo content?

Push Delves.

Want organized PvE?

Enter the Venomous Abyss.

Prefer PvP?

A new competitive season begins.

Want to relax?

Go cursed fishing.

Actually, considering this is World of Warcraft, the fish will probably attempt to murder you.

Midnight Is Moving Quickly

The speed at which Blizzard is expanding Midnight may ultimately be one of the most exciting things about the expansion.

Midnight launched earlier this year with new zones, eight dungeons, ten standard Delves, a Nemesis Delve, and multiple raids forming the foundation of Season 1.

Only months later, we’re already preparing to sail toward another zone and confront another major threat.

The Curse of Ula’tek arrives August 11.

Then, on August 18, the doors to the Venomous Abyss open and World of Warcraft: Midnight Season 2 officially begins.

Between a new raid, a dramatically different Mythic+ rotation, three new Delves, a new dungeon, expanding Prey hunts, world-boss Lairs, PvP progression, and the Coiled Isle itself, there is going to be plenty waiting for players when they log back into Azeroth.

So finish those Season 1 achievements.

Spend those currencies you’ve been hoarding.

Clean out your bags.

And prepare yourself emotionally for Ruby Life Pools.

Midnight Season 2 is almost here.
