Apex Legends is an incredible game filled with diverse weapons, unique characters, and fantastic maps that ensure that every match is nothing like the last. It is almost as good as Amo casino. Many players will flock to prove just how good they are at the game by participating in ranked mode. The ranked mode features a system that involves gaining ranked points or RP for every kill, assist, or placement in the match.
If you gain enough RP, you’ll tier up and eventually rank up. This will allow you to play against higher-level players and show off your hard work and talent to others. However, many players struggle to reach ranks beyond silver. To assist I have three ways to help gain a good deal of RP in order to climb tiers!
Rat
While the allure of Apex Legends is to go toe to toe with enemy teams until the bitter end, in ranked the goal is to acquire RP. So to do this, you’ll have to implement different strategies that involve ‘Ratting’. Ratting is where you do whatever you can to avoid conflict and survive as long as possible to earn placement points.
In order to do this effectively, you’ll want to play legends that have mobility such as Octane, Valkyrie, Pathfinder, Mad Maggie, Wraith, Loba, or Ash. That way when you inevitably encounter an enemy team, you can use your abilities to escape quickly. Even if only one member of your team survives, the team as a whole gains RP based on how long they survive.
You’ll want to simply find an area unoccupied by enemies and just squat down and only move if you absolutely need to.
Play the Ring
An easy way to help you to survive longer in matches is to willingly go into the ring. the ring is a legend killing wall of death that slowly creeps during the match to force players to fight one another. While most players will do whatever they can to avoid the ring, you can survive a decent while during the first and second ring. Each round, the ring will creep faster and deal a significant amount of damage.
A common technique is to deliberately wait on the edge of the ring behind cover to avoid gatekeepers, players who intentionally wait by the edge to shoot at players caught in the ring. Using your Hest Shield, a device that protects you from ring damage for a brief amount of time will help you to outlast enemies. While this technique only works for the first half of the match, it can help to secure a high placement.
Only Third Party
Admittedly, ratting is not a fun way to play the game since getting into firefights is the true fun of Apex Legends. Not to mention that getting assists and kills can amplify your RP. However, if you struggle in fights or find yourself surrounded by teams that have better equipment than you, you’ll want to wait to third party.
Third-party is a tactic where you wait for two teams to engage in a firefight, accrue damage, ideally when members of both teams have knocked down players, and then you rush in to overwhelm one of the teams. Even if you spot a team and have a shot on them, you won’t want to engage unless you absolutely have the upper hand.
Using long-range weapons such as the Bocek, Snipers, or even a Hemlock with a single fire will help to down the weakened teams and gain you additional points. Even if you don’t want to fully engage, you can take shots to help the enemy team down players, and for your participation in the kill, you gain Assist points.
I hope these three tips help you to gain more RP during your ranked matches and get you into your ideal tier! Although these techniques do work, I still recommend using applications such as Aim Lab to help you become a stronger player. Helping to train to be more accurate and have faster reflexes will cause you to gain RP faster because you will genuinely be better than your peers that do not train.
