Interview with Artist: NightGlimmer

We are always on the lookout for incredible artists to support! That is why we were stoked to get the chance to talk with the artist, NightGlimmer on herself and work!

The Geek Lyfe: Could you introduce yourself and your brand?

NightGlimmer: My Name is Sandy Fonseca and I am the artist behind the “NightGlimmer” shop on Etsy. I’m from Southern California and gravitate to my childhood nostalgia for my products.

The Geek Lyfe: What is your origin story?

NightGlimmer: I have enjoyed drawing and anime from a young age but can be pretty shy so I owe a lot to one of my best friends, Kalgado, since she is the one who actually got me started on doing Artist Alleys and continues to support me now. My Earliest Conventions were ALA with her back when it was held in LA Airport Marriot and Anime Expo sharing with 2 other friends of ours. It was rough at first, but Artist Alley has been a great experience! I’ve enjoyed talking to people at cons about my fandoms, being able to self indulge in making stuff I like, and see other people enjoy it as well!

The Geek Lyfe: What separates you from the rest?

NightGlimmer: Well, what most people seem to appreciate from me is that for my two main fandoms, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Digimon, I try to represent as many of the seasons as I can. A lot of people gravitate to the original seasons for both fandoms, but I really wanna give love to all the later seasons for both since I know it can be hard to find merch for some of the later ones.

The Geek Lyfe: Out of all the content you have created, which is your favorite?

NightGlimmer: I think that my favorite items that I have designed would probably be my Digimon faux stained glass Acrylic stands. It was not something I had really seen done before, and I just love how they turned out! It especially makes me glad that I made a pair for each of the Digimon seasons up until now since.
Another favorite is probably my “Childhood Adventures” print, in which I took various iconic items from my favorite childhood shows and placed them together. I love how people react to it at conventions and it’s always fun seeing them try to name all the shows represented on it.

The Geek Lyfe: How can folks support you?

With conventions canceled, I am relying on my Etsy shop to help me make bills and to fund more products but even just liking or sharing my stuff online on social media helps me out NightGlimmer: and I enjoy interacting with people of the same fandoms! They always help keep me motivated and inspired!

The Geek Lyfe: Where can we find you online?

NightGlimmer: I am most active on my Twitter and Instagram accounts, both under username Kiya9510 if anyone ever wants to chat! I also opened an account on Teepublic also under shop name NightGlimmer so people can get shirts with my art!

In these trying times, it is important that we focus on supporting one another to ensure that our community not only survives but thrives! If you have any sort of way to support them, be sure to do so! Whether that be financially or even just sharing their content, it is all such a tremendous help!
