Fire Force

Let me tell you about an anime so wild that you won’t be able to resist out of sheer curiosity! Fire Force is a new anime this season with only a handful of episodes released at the time of this article. This anime, are you ready for this? This anime features fire fighters who fight fires with guns, swords, and slightly Jesus.

The article should really just end here because a concept for a show can’t possibly get wilder than this. It only took two episodes to get me hooked and I am loving it.

At an unspecified point in the future, world sea levels have risen and the world is in a shambles. The rising sea levels have been carving up continents and causing the disappearance of many countries. Japan is now much smaller with people gathered within the small Tokyo Empire where the Holy Sol Temple and Haijma Industries have developed the Amaterasu, perpetual thermal energy plant. In the year 198 of the Solar Era in Tokyo, special fire brigades called the Fire Force fight increasing incidents of spontaneous human combustion where humans beings are turned into living infernos called “Infernals” (焰ビト Homura Bito). While the Infernals are first generation cases of spontaneous human combustion, later generations possess pyrokinesis while retaining human form. The Fire Force was formed by combining people with these powers from the Holy Sol Temple, The Tokyo Armed Forces and the Fire Defense Agency. However, the various companies of Fire Force operate independently and do not share information about human combustion. Company 8 was formed to investigate companies 1 through to 7.

Because these infernals have supernatural abilities, the fire fighters must use weapons in order to combat them. these weapons range from pyromancy, automatic weapons, swords, and even prayer! The main character, Shinra Kusakabe, is a third generation Pyrokinetic who was shunned by society for his abilities and the fires he caused accidentally. Thus, he strives to become a hero and right the wrongs he caused to prove he is not a danger to society.

The animation is beautiful, the voice acting is fantastic, the world building is just so unique that you can’t help but get addicted to the series. This is hands down a quality series. If you are a fan of action, combat, urban fantasy, and some comedy then look no further than Fire Force!

He strives to represent the stories of the common man and woman regardless of skin tone, age, sexual preference, or nationality. With every article he strives to bring representation to the voiceless. Unless he finds out they like dubbed anime.
