How Often are New (UK) Bingo Sites Created?

Online bingo has grown phenomenally over the last ten years. And there are good reasons for why that’s happening.

The biggest reason is that it’s far more sociable than in-person games. When you play in person, you’re forced to remain as quiet as possible to listen to the numbers being called out. If you’re distracted by someone talking to you or someone else, you may lose out on a lucrative jackpot.

When you’re playing online, everything is done by computer. You can freely engage in side conversations with other players in the chat room while your device does all the heavy lifting. There’s no chance you’ll miss winnings due to distractions.

You can also create games with new friends in chat rooms. Each site has its rules governing game creation, so you’ll have to check them out before trying.

Another reason is that it’s much easier to try new games online because everything moves at the speed of thought. It’s endless entertainment, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

The proof that these facts are true is that the Bingo Association reported 50% fewer land-based bingo halls just a few years ago. Now you know a few reasons why.

Counting Stars in the Night Sky

So exactly how many online bingo websites are launched? When? Each day? Each week? How about each month or every year?

Good luck answering that question. Online bingo is increasing, and it’s difficult, if not impossible, to track based on publicly available information, sites like Trustedbingo show large amounts of new bingo sites available to punters. Bingo Associations seem more preoccupied with the dwindling number of land-based bingo halls than online platforms. But here’s what we found:

  • According to trustedbingo.co.uk, “…the record for the largest number of people on any one site in a single day stands at 21,571, and that was set in 2020. That’s just for a single site.”
  • Yahoo Finance reported 18 new UK online bingo sites opened in the spring of 2021.
  • Trustedbingo.co.uk also reported that by June 2022, 22 new online bingo websites were launched year to date.
  • They also report that more than three million players enjoy the game at least twice weekly. They also note that figure equates to 8% of the UK population and covers 10% of women and 5% of men.

A simple Google search reveals hundreds of websites that do nothing but announce the launch of hundreds of new bingo websites each. Where does one begin? New sites, new networks, new games—almost daily.

The UK Gambling Commission

The definitive authority on gambling in the UK is the Gambling Commission. There’s a ton of information on their website that’s both comprehensive and voluminous. But unfortunately, not very clear; however, it’s still helpful. They provide the following information about UK online bingo:

“Remote, Casino, Betting and Bingo (RCBB) accrued £6.9 billion GGY which can be broken down into 3 individual areas:

  • Online casino games dominate the sector, generating £4.0 billion in GGY, £2.9 billion of which was from slots games.
  • GGY for remote betting totalled £2.6 billion, led by football (£1.2 billion) and horse betting (£856.1 million).
  • GGY for remote bingo totalled £189.1 million.”

They further report that there were 2,439 licensed operators according to, representing a decrease of 5.4% from the previous period. Among that group, 369 held licenses (remote and non-remote), allowing them to perform 3,368 activities, representing a decrease of 4.6%  from the previous period.

Last Words

Do we have an exact number for how often new UK bingo sites are created? Sadly no, at least not precisely, but it’s a lot.
