Interview: Mega Ran

Hey everyone! We have an incredible treat for you! While browsing the local shows coming to Arizona I saw a listing for none other than the incredible Mega Ran! If you aren’t familiar with Mega Ran, he is a Nerdcore rapper based in Arizona. Granted, I already knew he existed but only ever dreamed of meeting and interviewing him! Although there are many Nerdcore rappers out on the scene today, no one really ever creates such works of art with Mega Ran. Of course that is simply my humble opinion!

Mega Ran originally got famous for rapping about Mega Man and even creating up to four albums about the beloved franchise! They were so good, Capcom made them official and brought him to Comicon! As the years rolled on, he changed his focus on other games such as Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and even Mighty No 9! More recently he dove into the world of Professional wrestling and even TV shows like Stranger Things by creating songs inspired by them as well!

However I have to say that I was absolutely blown away by his album: RNDM. Contained in the CD are the songs he is iconic for that involve video games and every single one of them is entertaining. Among the songs are a few that involve real life issues you can tell mean the world to Mega Ran from the current state of education in America to being a Poet or any other type of creative spirit in the modern world. I must have listened to Poet twenty times since the night of the interview when I purchased because it speaks so much truth.

Coming into the interview I was a fan boy who had a certain impression of the man behind the mic but what I got when I actually sat down with Mega Ran was totally different. What I got was a veteran of a craft forged with wit and insight, he gave his absolute all on stage and although fans screamed his name he still remained humble enough to treat me and my photographer like normal human beings. I appreciated the honesty of his answers, even if the result was a rough memory. He not only performs with all his might, he also sells his merch and manages his social media and PR.

It’s safe to say he is an extremely hard working man! I am eternally grateful for getting to sit down and talk with my favorite Nerdcore rapper and I hope folks check out him and his work! Please make sure to follow him on his Twitter and Facebook!
