Top Grossing Movies based off Marvel Comics

Marvel Comics first launched super hero titles in 1961. With these amazing heroes, it is natural that they would become the inspiration for movies as well as casino games on your mobile. Every year, approximately three movies are produced that have a story line based off of Marvel Comics. Part of this trend can be attributed to the proven success of these movies with many becoming top grossing movies. These five movies are the top grossing Marvel movies.

The Avengers (2012) $623 million

This first Avengers movie was released in 2012 and still remains at the top despite later installments of this super hero group. The star-studded cast features popular movies actors like Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson. The villain in this movie is Loki who is bent of annihilating the Earth and all of those who inhabit it. With a storybook ending, the Avengers of course save the day and rescue the Earth.

Avengers: Age of Ultron (2015) $459 million

The sequel to the original Avengers film holds the second place on this list. James Spader stars in this movie as the evil force tries to thwart the development of a global defense program by the Avengers. The cast of the first Avengers movie returns.

Iron Man 3 (2013) $409 million

A member of the Avengers, Iron Man, stars in this third top grossing Marvel movie. Robert Downey, Jr. reprises the role of Tony Stark. The world is on the precipice of defeat as an evil terrorist aims at destroying earth.

Captain America: Civil War (2016) $408 million

A new movie appearing on this list, Captain America: Civil War is another Avengers movie with a plot twist. In this installment, the Avengers are seeing derision with Iron Man and Captain America having differences of opinion regarding a panel to oversee the group. The cast from the 2010 Avengers movie returns to the screen in this movie.

Spiderman (2002) $403 million

Spiderman rounds out the list. In this, the first Spiderman movie shows the evolution of Peter Parker into Spiderman. Tobey Maguire is featured in the starring role with Willem Dafoe and Kirsten Dunst co-starring.

As time goes one, Marvel Comics will continue to be featured in movies. Who knows if one of the upcoming movies such as second installment of the Guardians of the Galaxy or Doctor Strange achieve blockbuster status and make this list.
