You Do Not Want To Miss Sumuji Cafe At Taiyou Con!

This weekend a wonderful convention by the name of Taiyou Con is taking place at the Mesa Convention Center! the event will focus on the fandom of anime, manga, and cosplay! While there will be a number of incredible events happening, one of those events is held by the Sumuji Cafe! Sumuji Cafe is a maid cafe that is managed by our dear friend Michael Spadafore who is known for helping organize Dobutsu Lounge events.

We recently got to interview them on their event!

They explain in the video that the event during Taiyou con is an experience many westerners may not be familiar with. You would walk through their doors and partake in a meal served by men and women dressed as servants and they would cater to your every need. The meal does cost money but the event does not and many members of Sumuji cafe also participate in another brand by the name of Dobutsu Lounge which will also be hosting an event on Saturday night.

Th event itself starts at 1:30pm and runs until 5:30 in the Phoenix Grille room on Friday! They do have an event page on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/events/1736361633326050/! You can tell the crew behind Sumuji cafe put their heart and soul into every single aspect. Our dear friend, Heartless Aquarius, is a part of the event and has said something but wonderful things about it’s process. To my knowledge the members of the cafe crafted their own costumes which makes everything that much more special.

We’ll no doubt be attending not only Taiyou Con itself but also Sumuji cafe! We absolutely recommend you do the same if you want to have a blast and support local folks!

With every article he strives to bring representation to the voiceless. Unless he finds out they like dubbed anime.
