Heartless Aquarius Takes on RTX Austin 2018

Hey everyone, Heartless here! I’m excited to tell you guys about a new convention, well, new to me. I went to a whole new state to check out Rooster Teeth Expo aka RTX.

What is Rooster Teeth Expo?

Rooster Teeth Expo, commonly referred as RTX, is a convention started by the entertainment company Rooster Teeth that focuses on their series, products, gaming, and more. RTX occurs in Austin, Texas, London, England, and Sydney, Australia. The convention has been around since 2011. The convention was held in the Austin Convention Center, which is in the heart of downtown Austin. The location was two blocks away from the popular 6th street that has tons of bars and restaurants. The convention center was also surrounded by tons of hotels. There were so many food and hotel options within walking distance of RTX.

What was there to do?

RTX had a variety of panels and guests. A majority of them focused around Rooster Teeth and their series, however there were guests and content that were not just about Rooster Teeth. There were also many panels that unveiled exclusive content that would not be released to the public until some time after the convention. As a fan of their series RWBY, it was cool to hear staff on the series talk about behind the scenes, new projects and merchandise, and show exclusive clips. Along with panels, RTX also had many live shows, podcasts, and a concert for guests to attend.

RTX Inner Workings

One thing I want to mention is how smoothly the convention was run. RTX had wonderful security, badge pickup, panel lines, and overall crowd management. Everything was efficient and I just want to say I appreciate the hard work the staff and guardians put into the event. Speaking of the RTX guardians, one RTX tradition that I love is Cheer on the Guardians. A group of people wait outside the convention center on the last day of RTX and thank every volunteer. The whole process goes on for hours and it’s one of the sweetest gestures I have ever seen at a convention.

Overall, if you are a fan of Rooster Teeth or any of their series, I highly recommend this convention. The community is welcoming and friendly, there’s tons of content and events, it’s convenient to get food, and the convention is very well run.

I want to take a moment to thank everyone I met at RTX. All of you were so kind and sweet and it really made my weekend. I was worried I would be a loner since I was in a new place at a new convention, but you all proved me wrong.
